Recording the screen is the best way to explain a complex operation over a distance. Most screen recorders come with numerous options which many people may never use and which can make things a bit more difficult, rather than give you more possibilities when recording the screen. The answer to problems like this is Recordit. This simple and lightweight application enables you to record your screen and share the recording immediately, without having to think about any options or tweaks.
Recordit is available in free and paid editions, for Windows and Mac OS X. Downloading and installing the application is a trivial task and it should not take more than a minute. Also, there is no need to install new codecs or other supplementary tools.
There is not much to say about the application's functionality, due to its remarkable simplicity. Once it is up and running on your computer, you only need to double click a system tray icon and choose what area of the screen to record, by drawing a rectangle. Stopping the recording is done by double clicking the tray icon again.
When you stop recording, the application will upload the footage to a video hosting service automatically. Uploaded recordings can be played on a web browser, through the same system tray icon. Furthermore, videos can be shared via direct link or posted on Facebook, Twitter or Google Plus.
Pros
You can record your screen and upload the recording quickly, without being asked for too much input. The application allows youc to share your recordings over social networks or by copying a URL.
Cons
You can record for a maximum of 5 minutes with the free version. If you want to show someone a demonstration on your own desktop, Recordit will help you do it without any delay.
